The Finnish Ontology of Photography VALO

The Finnish Ontology of Photography VALO (ca. 2 000) is based on the Finnish Photography Thesaurus maintained by the Finnish Museum of Photography. The combination of VALO and Finnish General Upper Ontology YSO has been created in the FinnONTO project by the Semantic Computing Research Group with the support of project partners, especially the Finnish Museum of Photography. The ontology was created by aligning the Finnish Ontology of Photography VALO with the Finnish General Upper Ontology YSO using the top ontology and other modelling principles of YSO. This way the concepts of this domain could be explicitly described in relation to equivalent or more general concepts of the Finnish General Upper Ontology YSO. This combination of aligned ontologies can be used for describing resources especially in the domain of photography.
